Jakarta

A Fast-Growing Economy with Great Opportunity

Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest economy with a growing population of over 261 million people. The young population is valuable in contributing to a labour force that will serve as a catalyst for Indonesia’s growth potential, development and economic opportunity.

Furthermore, Indonesia shows signs of newly advanced economic development similar to that of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries. An example of such developments is its drive in strengthening the public sector infrastructure through the use of Sistem Perbendaharaan dan Anggaran Negara (SPAN), a new financial management system.

Supported by a multi-donor trust fund consisted of the World Bank and governments of Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United States of America, Indonesia launched SPAN in 2015. As an automated treasury payment and budget preparation information system, SPAN helps to improve efficiency in financial spending and accountability through its functionalities such as validating government transaction data and controlling government commitments.

With a sophisticated financial management system such as SPAN, Indonesia has effectively enforced strong fiscal management which has helped with its success in attaining tremendous economic advancements in recent years.

The capital of Indonesia and one of the most talked-about cities in Asia, Jakarta has experienced extraordinary economic growth and rapid development. Jakarta has now proven to be an emerging diverse economy with promising markets that is still gaining significant attention from the international community.
